What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Going into my final collegiate year i hit most of the goals i set out for myself. I wanted to have over a 30 tackle season and i accomplished that. I also wanted to have more than 5 sacks on the year and also accomplished that as well. I played a position called bandit so i was extremely undersized. I done it for the success of the team. Only goal i did not accomplish was winning a national championship with my team.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
The extra year was really beneficial for me because it gave me a chance to really get more film and showcase my talents for another season. I worked really hard to finish up the season strong. I definitely think it worked to my advantage.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and team would definitely say I’m a playmaker and a workhorse. Need a big hit on special teams i’m that guy. Need a spark to get the team going i’m that guy. I’m a guy who can do all the dirty work to get the job done for the benefit of the team.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I’m studying film I want to always be consistent in my study. How you watch film can separate you from your opponents. Talent and ability can only take you so far. I watch the player who plays my position and the tendencies that he has each play. Film does not lie.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I want to get my foot in the door making a special teams roster. I take pride in running down on kickoff or punt. Many guys look at special teams as a kind of dishonor. I love it and what separates me from the other prospects is my speed and strength. I’m extremely physical at point of contact. My motor never stops running.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I’m currently training at the trench academy in Tampa Florida. If you’ve heard anything about this place you would know it’s the real deal. Coach Taylor is putting about 10-15 pounds on me. We are working on speed and football IQ. The goal is becoming an overall football player during the training.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Speed kills, I’m a fast, physical athlete who likes contact. In college I took on offensive lineman playing in a position i would not normally play in. Physicality is routine for me. I’m a grinder who can do anything that is asked of me. I’m coachable and love people. I’m very well spoken and would be a great asset for a team.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Take a chance on me and I’ll let my ability speak.
