Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

As a captain I wanted to work on my vocal leadership and be able to pair that with my existing lead-by-example mentally. Personally I set out to have my most successful year yet and I’d say I was able to accomplish that as I was selected 1st team all conference and OL of the year for the NE10 Conference, later I was also named to the All New England team by the New England Football Writers Association, and then 1st team All-American by the AFCA , as well as the team MVP voted on by my teammates and coaches.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would tell you that I am a well prepared, mentally ready player when we step on the field, and once we’re between the lines it’s a never quit mentality. Always forcing myself to play the best, most tough, physical brand of football I possibly can. I play the game with a lot of passion, and love each and every player on the team.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I watch film I’m looking for anything that the opposing defense might be doing to tip off different blitzes, or stunts so that I can see those in real time and know it’s coming before they do it. When it comes to studying up on my matchup for the week it’s seeing what his favorite kind of moves are. What he likes to counter with when his first move doesn’t work. Tendencies based on down and distance, or when they blitz or stunt. Guys tend to have a move for every scenario so being ready for every possible move that I might see from a particular player all comes from film study. I know that type of anticipation and knowing what they might do will get me in the right place at the right time.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I think what separates me from other prospects at my position is my understanding of the game. I have always been a true student of the game of football and have been able to thrive where I am challenged mentally and am able to learn constantly.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am training with Erik Kaloyanides and his staff at Athletic Evolution.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The passion and heart that I have for the game is something that will be immediately noticed, and compliments my leadership abilities well. I think the toughness and constant effort when I play with will be something that sticks out. I also try to bring an intensity with everything I do, trying to elevate myself and my teammates at all times, on and off the field.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

They will be getting a guy who is fully committed. Someone who is going to bring a winning mentality, that will hopefully become infectious because not only am I worried about my own success as a football player and person, I love when I can see that same type of growth and mindset in my teammates because from my experience that’s what develops winning cultures. I love the game of football and always want to be the best at every level I play, making it to the next level would be no exception. Once I get there it will only be the beginning because after that it’s continuing to become the best player I can be and always getting better.
