What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I had two main goals. My first goal was to be such a dominating force that the opposing coaches had to game plan against me. My second goal was for our defense to be the best team defense in the conference. And I’m glad to say both of my goals were accomplished.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
I was able to use the extra year of eligibility to grow physically, by adding an additional 20 lbs of muscle during the pandemic. Also I was able to show my versatility by moving from LB to DE which was a new position for me. Finally, because of the extra film study and practice reps I was able to increase my overall football IQ.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say I’m an athletic freak with a team first mentality. Always leading by example.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I study my film I focus on my technique, my pad level and my reads. Also I’m looking to see how I can be more efficient, even if I played well. When I am studying my opponent’s film I am looking for his tendencies and weaknesses for me to exploit.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me is I am a defensive player that can play any down and distance. I have the ability to play with my hand in the dirt, stuff the run and rush the passer with multiple techniques. I also have the ability to drop back in coverage or man up a receiver.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My plan is to train in Georgia with Chuck Smith and the Chuck Smith Training System as well as Chip Smith for my strength and conditioning.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I have a strong Christian faith. Because of my faith it allows me to carry myself on and off the field with dignity and respect.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I just want the opportunity to prove what I already know. Which is, I am a professional athlete who believes that all hard work pays off. And because I am willing to put in the hard work it allows me to win on and off the field. Because of my winning mentality it becomes contagious which causes my teammates to buy in.
