Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
First, I wanted to push my teammates to be successful both on and off the field. Then, I made it a personal goal of mine to be an efficient punter and kicker who would earn all-conference honors. The goal was ultimately to the best at wherever I was on the field and to impact those around me.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I can’t speak for them but I do know I am a very selfless, team first, and hardworking player/student who can uplift those around him. A lot of people describe me as a silent leader because I am always working hard and doing the right thing even if no one is watching. I’m a teammate people can count on and go to even though I made not be your everyday outspoken leader.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
From an opponent standpoint, I’m always looking to understand their returners and where they line up in different formations as I try my best to keep it out of their hands and allow no return yards. I also played a little bit of wide receiver and studied the DB’s to understand the easiest releases and approaches I could take to get open. I also spent time watching personal film to better myself in all aspects of the game.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
My athletic ability puts me in my own class when it comes to a lot of punters. I always played receiver and punted on the side but then those roles flipped once college came around. Being athletic helps in many roles of the kicking game whether that’s making a tackle, running a fake, or having to scramble and play fast on bad snaps. I’m also a punter who has missed several DBs and I don’t think many punters can say that for themselves.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
One thing is that I love the weight room, I may not be the strongest but working out is a passion of mine and something I will continue way beyond my football days. I’ll also spend time working on my punting game and keep working to become more consistent day in and day out.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I’m an athletic punter who can put a little edge on the trick plays portion of the game. In my senior season I also landed several punts punts inside the 20, including 5 in just one game. So I’m very efficient when it comes to flipping the field and pinning the opposing team back. I’ll also do anything the team needs and spend time away from the team to help make the team better. I’m also a man who believes in God and understand that through him anything is possible and he’s the one that would give me the opportunity to glorify him on and off the field.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Whether God has called me to play professional football or not, I am beyond grateful for the talent he gave me to play this game I love at the collegiate level. The chance to go pro would be an absolute blessing and is all in God’s hands and not mine. I know God had given me the talents to make it this far and I can use these talents to make many teams a better football team.
