Vincent Jefferies Jr: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Vincent H. Jefferies Jr.
School: Florida A&M University
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 208

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

Some of my goals going into my senior season were to establish myself as a leader and set an example to others around me, not only on the field, but in the weight room, in the classroom, and within the community.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Poised, Athletic, and Accurate.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I workout 7 Days a week, throwing on the field 2/3 Days out of the week. I understand that training is not limited to weights and running, so I do yoga at least once a week to maintain flexibility. I also keep track of what I consume throughout the week to make sure I am getting the best out of my body.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

When studying film, I focus on opposing coaching tendencies. I key into down and distance to get an idea of what the opposing DC likes to do in certain scenarios. I also pay attention to the secondary and LBs for tips on body language and how they tip off their coverage with pre-snap movement.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me from others at my position is simply my work ethic and will-power. I believe that you get out what you put in. I am the guy running sprints with the receivers, pushing myself to be in first place. The guy that stays after practice daily to get extra work in with receivers. The guy that after practice and workouts for the day, I’m going to the gym one more time at night to ensure I am the best. The guy that puts accountability first and makes sure I hold myself accountable because I understand as a QB, I represent not only my team, but the franchise I will be playing for.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

One of my key strengths is my ability to lead a team through adversity, not by leading verbally, but through my actions. Whether it be 4th and goal for the game, or leading a community outreach program, I will be the guy everyone can count on to set the pace and keep everyone composed.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch is that whatever team I go to, I will continue to put in the work that got me in that position. Not sign and get complacent with just being there, but being the guy who stays hungry and committed to eventually be the franchise kid who rose to the top through faith, hard work, and dedication, to making my goals my reality.
