Tyler Vargas: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Tyler Vargas
School: Eastern New Mexico
Position: K/P
Height: 5’10″
Weight: 185

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I wanted to make all my field goals under 49 yards and I accomplished that.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I am the type of player who is going to do my job no matter what I am asked to do.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film I always make sure my plant foot is lined up with my aiming point and always make sure I keep my head down. Keeping my head down and letting the crown tell me when I make it is always something I’ve focused on.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

What separates me from other prospects is that I have a short memory and don’t let the negative plays affect my game.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My offseason plan is to train with my coach I’ve been working with since sophomore year of high school and just to keep my same stroke I’ve had, because my leg swing got me to where I am today.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The strengths and abilities I have is that I am reliable no matter the situation I’m put in. I will make the easy kicks and I will make the situational kicks. Off the field, I will do whatever I’m asked to do wether its helping out in the community or staying after practice to work with a coach and what not.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other pro leagues?

My final pitch to any pro team would be that you will always be able to count on me no matter what. I don’t get in my own head like most people that play my position do, and I’m not your typical kicker, and I feel like I have a very different personality than your normal kicker.
