Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
One of the main goals I had set for myself was to step up into the leadership role that my coaches wanted me in since I was more of a lead by example. After being more demanding of my teammates and wanting more out of myself as well I was nominated as a team captain. Another goal was to receive all-conference while that goal didn’t come to fruition, I did get ranked 2nd in the 2023 FCS Draft Class, 3rd in the 2022 FCS season, and 7th in the 2022 FBS & FCS season on PFF with a blocking grade of 91.2 Reg and Postseason.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My Coaches and teammates often described me as one of the toughest, grittiest, reliable, and relentless players they’ve got to coach/play with. While I’ve always had the mindset of it’s not going to be me it’s not going to be us all gas no breaks no matter what. It being my last year of college football just made the fire burn hotter than it ever did and that flame is still going since it wasn’t the kind of season the team nor I wanted so I’ve been using that as fuel to the fire while I train and get ready for these last bowl games and the draft.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
The things I look for and study on film are the Dlines’ stance and alignment to each other, if they’ve got tight splits if they’re angled or how heavy they lean on that drive foot. Another thing I’m paying attention to and noting on is the trinity of the safeties and corners. If they’re stacked expect some pressure and possibly games. A final note is player tendencies and habits they have that are hints on what’s coming there’s still always room for improvement in bettering my knowledge of the game.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me from the other pro prospects in my position is there is no quit in my blood no matter what adversity I’ve faced in my life I kept chopping away until something gave and then I went even harder. Also, I’m a sponge to learning all techniques and skills to elevate my game I’m confident to go out of my comfort zone and adapt to whatever environment I’m in similar to a mushroom. That’s what allowed me to keep growing in my position I was always retaining information from all outlets film, practice, camps, and videos I was absorbing it.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My offseason plan is to continue to work out by myself as well as with my personal trainer and former teammates to stay in game-ready shape so whenever my name is called I’m ready.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
The strengths and abilities I would bring to the team would be my strong hands at the point of contact. I’ve always been told by coaches and fellow teammates that I have strong and violent hands once they strike you’re discombobulated and when you try to work a move I’m locked on unwilling to let go. My athleticism and feet are also what allow me to play at such a high level I’m able to get out on screens into open space and move defenders that are in the 2nd and 3rd level.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to the NFL and other pro leagues would have to be that I’m here to work no matter the circumstances and you will get 100% and my best every day. I’ve always been a worker who had to work and grind to get what I want from grinding in Junior College to D2 and D1 at TAMUC. I’ve never shied away from hard work so if I have to start in any other league than the NFL and work my way up so be it I’m beyond grateful for any opportunity to continue this game.
