Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The first set of goals I set during my final collegiate season was a team goal of winning a PSAC championship title, along with making the playoffs. Unfortunately, neither of these team goals were achieved. Also, I did set individual goals as well such as being named as an all-conference, all-region, and all-American player. I was able to reach all three of these individual goals as I was named to the 1st team All PSAC West team, 2nd team All-Region team, and 1st team Academic All-American team.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I’m a dedicated player who will go beyond what is required to help our team win games. Whether doing extra repetitions after practice to doing extra weightlifting workouts on my own time, I will always strive my best to put myself in the best possible position to be successful. I also believe my coaches and teammates would say I’m an intelligent individual that works extremely hard. During my time at California University of Pennsylvania, I earned an accumulative GPA of 4.0 while earning my master’s degree in Sport Management concentrating in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration, while also earning two post-Baccalaureate certificates in the exercise science field with an accumulative GPA of 4.0. These certificates include Wellness and Fitness and Group-Fitness Leadership. I also was named to the 1st team Academic All-American team in both my junior and senior season.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

Throughout the week, I watch both my techniques used during practice and my past games, while also studying my opponent thoroughly. I begin watching film by studying player tendencies and techniques in what each player I will be blocking does throughout the game. For instance, if the defensive end’s feet are more even, I may expect him to pinch inside. Also, if I notice my opponent likes to knock offensive lineman’s hands down on pass rush moves, I may flash my hands and vary up the tempo of my pass set. After I study and pick up on player tendencies and techniques, I would then shift my attention to the defensive schemes of the opponent I will be playing each week. For instance, I would look to see what alignments, blitzes, and pressures each defense may run in different situations and see if any tips may indicate each situation. In terms of the things I focus on improving in my game, I would like to continue improving overall play in both the run and pass games. In terms of the run game, I would like to improve my pad level consistently and continue to have tight hands that work in coordination with my footwork. On the other hand, with pass blocking, I want to continue improving my pass sets by improving my overall footwork with each pass set. I also would like to improve my hand-striking ability and vary the timing of my punch and continue to improve the proper hand placement with each pass set.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I’m a two-time 1st team Academic All-American as an offensive lineman which demonstrates my high intelligence. Therefore, rather than being just a big 6’6”, 310-pound lineman that simply performs well at my position with very little knowledge, I use my intelligence to the next level to determine several factors that will put me in the position to make each offensive play work most effectively.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

To continue working out at a high intensity in the weight room and football field, along with training specifically for the assessments that are tested at the NFL combine such as the 40-yard dash, 5-10-5 pro agility drill, 3 cone L-drill, vertical jump, and broad jump.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

The biggest strength that I have that I will bring to a team is my hard-working mindset both on the football and off the field. As a 4.0 student in graduate school, I used that mindset to be the best in the classroom, whether that be earning the top grade on an exam, or a top grade on an assignment, I always strived to be the best. I then applied that same concept on the football field as well in striving to become the best offensive lineman on the field. As a result of having that mindset, I find that this resulted in a competitive environment within my football team, which led to our team improving overall, which relays the message of iron sharpening iron.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

To any organization that may acquire me, just know that you will be getting a selfless player who will do anything to make the team better. I’m an individual who is always looking to improve my game which will translate into helping the team become better.
