Name: Nick Williams
School: UNLV
Position: WR/TE
Height: 6-4
Weight: 215
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Going into my final season I wanted to prove not only to myself but to my teammates that I will be the most consistent and selfless player that will do anything for the team. I accomplished this by learning the TE Flex position and going to the slot when I’ve always been an outside WR because of my size.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say that I am a very analytical player who pays attention to all the details of the game. Whether it is getting the timing down with the QBs or communicating with the o-line on who they have, I want to make sure that everyone is on the same page so we can win. They would also say that I am very fun to be around because I like to laugh and have fun when playing this game.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film, I focus on making sure I am setting my routes up to all look the same. When you make your routes look identical, it is hard for coaches to scheme and call out what you are going to do. Additionally, when studying film, I like to watch the opponent and look for key indicators that could help me gain and edge on the defender. I want to take advantage of any mistake they make whether it is little or big because it will help me play faster.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
Something that separates me from other prospect at my position is my size and my ability to run. I am a true 6’4 215lb wide receiver with a large catch range that can run both the slot and outside wide receiver. Transferring from CSU-Pueblo (D2) to UNLV my final year showed that I can be efficient and effective even at a higher level.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Currently I am training at Landow Performance in Denver Colorado. They are a top tier program that has trained many athletes including Christian McCaffrey, Philip Lindsay and many more. We spend lots of time on the details of executing and getting our body in the correct position so we can test well on pro day. My diet has become even better and my body is seeing great improvements.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
The biggest strength that I can offer a team on the field is my versatility within all WR/TE positions. I can learn offenses really quick and I can adapt on the fly. Off the field, I am someone who is laid back but will always go out of my way to support my teammates with whatever they have going on in their lives.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Growing into my body has been one of the most rewarding things and seeing how much better I can get always amazes me. As a former D2 football player, and having moved up to the D1 level, I am not scared of competition and never will be. I came into college at 180lbs and I still believe I am filling into my body and developing. Now, I am at 215lbs and I feel that my game is still raw and with the right system, I believe that I can be a great addition. I will always compete and when the time comes, I produce when the game is on the line. I offer great versatility and I like to play smart. Adversity is nothing new to me and an opportunity to come in and compete to earn a job is all I am looking for.
