Nick Fields: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Nick Fields
School: Bowling Green State University
Position: Kicker
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 210

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

My goals heading into the final season of my career were to be more consistent with hang times on my kickoffs and better field placement. Another one of my goals was to be ranked in the top 5 for Kickoff Return Defense, in which we accomplished two years in a row.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Accurate, Explosive, Relaxed.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I have been working on more explosive and conditional training. As far as kicking, I have been working on height on my field goals and more fluent on both of my approaches.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

When I would study the opponent, I focused on different aspects of the return game and key players to watch. This helped tremendously in the schemes we could run. For kickoffs and field goals, it was all about technique and being as consistent/explosive as possible.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I would say that my leg strength, accuracy, and levelness. Being able to punt as well has helped me develop in all aspects of kicking.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I think that my personality and dependability as a person/player is something that I believe teams need. Having a patient mindset has helped me deal with a lot of situations on and off the field. The many different kicks that I can do on kickoff and being able to kick anywhere on the field will help any team be successful in special teams.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I am confident that my work ethic and determination helps me be the best player and person I can be anywhere I go. Everything I do will be to Glorify God. No matter what, I will do whatever it takes for the team to be successful.
