NFL Draft 2017 Prospect: Tyson Graham

Name: Tyson Graham
College: South Dakota
Position: Safety
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 215

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Tyson: Physical, Relentless, and Competitor.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Tyson: I’m currently training down in Boca Raton with Tony Villani working on my linear speed. A lot of scouts want to see how my linear speed is, so I’m working on that. I am also polishing up techniques, footwork, and becoming a student of the game.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Tyson: I would compare my game to Kam Chancellor and Deonne Buchannon. The way they play the game with passion and physicality, you can see flashes of that in my game. Also, Kam Chancellor’s ability to be either down in the box or back in coverage. I had to do a lot of that my senior year, so I’m also pretty comfortable with doing both.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Tyson: Tendencies from the WR’s/TE’s such as route releases, blocking, any signals he gives to the QB maybe for an adjustment. Studying the QB, I check and see if he checks all his reads or just automatically chooses his target before the snap, any pre-snap adjustments he may have whether he’s adjusting his jersey to give off a sign, or wiping his towel before the cadence, etc.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Tyson: My knowledge of the game, my physicality and versatility definitely separates my game from others. Having the ability to either play down or either drop back in coverage or maybe even play in that nickel role and still play at a high level.

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Tyson: I think first and foremost, I would bring an attitude second to none. I would be ready to work on and off the field, each and every day. Also my character, I feel as though an organization would never have to worry about me with any off the field issues. Also, my competitive nature would kick in every time I step on that field. I’m fighting to compete.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Tyson: I would say, bringing a guy like me into your organization, you’re getting a guy who brings his hard hat each and every day he pulls up to that facility. From day one, I would be willing to compete, and that includes on each and every special teams unit. I would do everything I could to make the team better each and everyday. At the end of the day, our common goal is to win the Super Bowl. I plan on being a guy who brings forth a championship attitude for years and years to come.
