Name: Rokeem Williams
College: Miami (OH)
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 200
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Rokeem: Explosive, Smooth, Deceiving
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Rokeem: Recently I’ve been training at home here in South Carolina with a personal speed trainer, preparing for the Senior Tropical Bowl. I’m headed to train at Ignition Athletic Performance Group, located in Cincinnati. I’ll be training there for about 6 weeks leading up to my pro day.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Rokeem: DeAndre Hopkins aka “Nuk”. Growing up, I watched him play at Clemson and fell in love with his game. I often try to base my route running and overall game to what he’s doing on the field. He’s a humble guy that also has that “Dawg” in him. And that’s what it takes to play this game at such a high level.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Rokeem: When it comes to film, I usually start off by looking for any tendencies and weaknesses in the secondary of the defense. From there, I’m watching how often certain coverages are played to our formations, and try to figure out the best ways to run routes to beat those coverages.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Rokeem: I want to say speed, but I know everybody is fast at the next level. I think my route running mixed with my speed is something that separates me. When it comes to route running, I have a ton of head fakes, foot work, and all other kind of eye candy that I throw at defenders to get open. Outside of my routes and speed, I would just say being a great teammate. I’ve always played with more passion and attitude when I know I’m going to battle with my brothers/teammates. The game just means a little bit more when you play that way.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Rokeem: Outside of my athletic abilities, I would say my ability to hold myself accountable for what I do on and off the field. Like I said, I’m always about the team and wants what’s best for the team. I Don’t mind making sacrifices and putting in extra work for the team. I know what everybody is trying to accomplish and I’m willing to do whatever I can to help the team get there. Other than that, I’ve never had any off field issues. In my free time, I’m usually talking with my daughter, playing video games, or somewhere fishing.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Rokeem: My final pitch would be, I’m a great guy and even better athlete. I’ve been chasing this dream for while now and it’s a blessing to be in the position I’m in today. To all the scouts and pro teams, I would be a great addition to any team. I know how to work hard and I know how to do things right.
