Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Devontre: Explosive, aggressive, fearless.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Devontre: I am currently training with the University of Southern Miss strength & conditioning coaches, everyday 6 days out of the week preparing for pro day, draft, other NFL opportunities.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Devontre: Well, I would compare myself to Janoris jenkins, he one of the best complete cornerbacks in the league right now, comparing my game to him is easy. Being said, I feel we have some of the same traits, great feet & hands, physical at the point of attack, ball skills, and football IQ.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Devontre: I look at football tendencies such as personnel, favorite plays, formation, route combinations. In Wide Receiver releases, favorite routes, is he physical or soft, and his speed. Also, look for small niches that can give me an advantage.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Devontre: Well, I’m a different Breed, extremely diverse and versatile athlete with big play ability. Therefore, I am physical in coverage, or run support, and is willing to play special teams such as punt & kick off return, etc.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Devontre: I am a great guy to have in the locker room, someone that’s going to work hard everyday. I lead by example, and help bring others along with me. I graduated from University of Louisville, with a Bachelor in Science of Sports Administration which displays my work ethic & determination to finish. I’ve been through a lot of adversity over my college career, which I’m eager to release on the field for a NFL team, someone with a chip on their shoulder, and a lot to prove to the world.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Devontre: I’m a complete cornerback that’s possesses all the traits to become a great player in the league, fast, & fast twitch, quick feet, long arms for jamming receiver, all the athletic ability, a freak of nature just awaiting for someone to discover the diamond in the rough.
