NFL Draft 2017 Prospect: Desmond Maxwell
Name: Desmond Maxwell
College: Western Kentucky
Position: Fullback / Tight End
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Desmond: Three words to describe my style of play: Versatile, Nasty, physical
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Desmond: I’m training this off season to change my diet to keep my weight stable. I’m working on my explosiveness and speed for pro day so I can show scouts that I can move and be athletic.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Desmond: I would compare myself to Marcel Reece because my game is alike. I can line up in a TE and block and catch and do the same from a fullback position as well.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Desmond: When I’m studying, I look at how I can better myself at blocking or catching the ball because they are going to help me get to the next level.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Desmond: What separates me from other Fullbacks and Tight Ends is that I can be versatile. I can put my hand in the ground at FB and TE and block well. Also, as H-back I can spread out and catch the ball too.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Desmond: I can bring leadership and hard work. I say leadership because I’m the type of person who will make sure if I do it right the next person should. I’m going to always guide my teammate the right way. Hard work I say because I’m going to give 110% no matter what. I’m still going out work the next person.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Desmond: When you get a guy like me, you’re going to get a player who is a hard worker and determined to get better every day. I will continue to make plays on any special teams or where ever you need me at.
