NFL Draft 2017 Prospect: Brett Benes

Name: Brett Benes
College: Charleston
Position: Punter/Kicker
Height: 6’1″

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Brett: If I could describe my style of play in 3 words it would be consistent, calm, and prepared.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Brett: I lift everyday to stay in shape and to maximize my abilities and stay injury free as well as kick a few times a week with my kicking coach Tony Bugeja of 4th Down Solutions to stay fine tuned and ready to go.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Brett: Well I like to think of myself to be a good directional punter and in college I was a combo guy with kicking and punting so that’s sort of a similar style to Matt Bosher. He was a combo in college too. I also played quarterback in high school and my freshman year of college so we had an array of fakes we ran in my career which is similar to what John Hekker does out in LA.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Brett: I am always watching the little things that add up to make a perfect punt or kick. The drop, my steps, my leg swing etc. I also try and study a little bit of how the other team brings their guys just so I am aware of any situation I can be faced with.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Brett: My attention to detail and drive to be perfect. I am always trying to find ways to better myself and my game.

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Brett: I think that I will be great for any team not only for my talent, but also for the type of person I can be for a locker room. I like to think of myself as being a great teammate. Also, I always try to involve myself in the community to represent whatever team or organization I am apart of.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Brett: You won’t find a harder working specialist who puts his team first.
