Michael Addison: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Michael Addison
School: Shaw University
Position: Offensive Line/Defensive Line
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 315

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

My goals headed in to the season was to help my team win in every way possible. Playing my position to the best of my ability, playing another position if coach needed me to, or cheering on my teammates if I was not on the field at that time. Also, passing all of my classes.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

I would describe my style of play as fast, consistent, and explosive.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Well, I plan on watching a lot of NFL/CFL film and compare the starters to myself. Learn new moves, get stronger, faster, and quicker off ball on offense and defense, and stay blessed.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Playing Offense Line when looking at film, the number one thing I look for are the starters and back-ups and even 3rd string players, whoever gets in the game. I like to find what favorite move they like to use. Their move/moves they like to use in a game winning situation, so I won’t get confused about what may come next. I also look at the Linebacker’s eyes, stands and feet to determine if it’s going to be a blitz, so I change protection or whatever I need to do to protect the Quarterback. Playing Defense Line, I like to look at stands to determine if it’s going to be a pass or run play. I also look at the offense form empty to determine if the Offensive Line likes to confuse the Defensive Line with a run stance in a 99% pass formation (I don’t like to do a lot of thinking, I like to know my opponent 100% when I’m playing). I also look at what moves they did not do well against the game before and try them in the game. Last but not least, I look at speed, power, and agility that a player has.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me from other players at my positions OL/DL is that I don’t look at a game and say we play for 60 minutes because in reality, we don’t all the time. (When the time says :00, the play is not over until you are down and the ball is dead, but people do not count the extra seconds, which can lose or win you the game. Then you have overtime), but I have a dog in me and WANT to make a big time tackle or block that can win the PLAY every down. If the ball is not coming my way, I don’t give the guy in front of me a break ever.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring positive energy on and off the field. I will bring a championship mindset that fans would love and make the fans love us for more than just football, but for being great men in the community.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I’m a great player and can adapt to any system and be great at it. I am all about business and getting the business clear.
