Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
As a team, we wanted to win conference. That was our goal, if we win conference then we had an opportunity to make the playoffs and go on. Individually, coming off good seasons, I really wanted to focus on developing even more as a leader and be the one who takes that main role. I didn’t really focus on stats, but my main goal was to be an All-American.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
I would say, aggressive, dangerous, and motivated. Aggressive because I love fighting for every yard. Sacrificing to get anything that I can get. Dangerous because whenever I get the ball, my goal is to score. No matter where I’m at, that’s my goal. Motivated because I always play with fire and energy, I play because I know what I can do and I won’t settle for anything less.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I’ve been training at D1 Sports Training, in Columbus, for my pro-day. It’s a great place and helping me develop even more as an athlete.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
The first thing I look at when I’m watching film is the other team tendencies. What do they do in certain situations, depending on the down and how far away the first down is. So I know what to expect or have an idea what they could be running in that situation. Then goes the alignment, seeing how the safety’s, DB’s, and linebackers are playing. Seeing where their eyes are. Maybe indicating man or zone. Maybe the safeties/ Linebackers have a tendency that they’re not aware of in certain plays. The pre-play is just as important is the actual play, so you always want to be ahead.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I’d say my ability to adapt to different situations. People mostly find success in comfortability. But what happens when they’re in a position that they aren’t in that much. I try to find success in different ways. If that means playing different positions, roles, plays, or anything that’s needed.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Some of my strengths and abilities that I would bring to a team is, I’m always motivated, I love what I do. Studying film, playing games, practicing. Motivating teammates, on and off the field. Being a brother that’s accountable. Always having good energy.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
My final pitch to sell to the NFL or any other pro league scouts would be, my work ethic, I’m willing to sacrifice for my team and myself. I love to compete. I know my skill set can be utilized in the next level and I’m confident that given the right opportunity that I can make something out of it. I believe I can compete at the highest level and I’d love to prove it.
