Marcus Graham: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Marcus Graham
School: Lindsey Wilson College
Position: Offensive Line
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 305

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

The first goal I had heading into my final season was to be selfless and give all I had for my brothers around me. The second goal I had was to get a conference and national championship ring. We did win conference, but didn’t get the national championship one. The third goal I had was to have fun, seasons get long and drag out, but I wanted to remain optimistic and confident.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Physical, smart, passionate.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I will train by focusing on my weak points on the field. Also, I’m going to put a big emphasis on my core and legs. Working with fellow teammates and will be in contact with HS OL coach Jason Mathews, former Colts, Titans, and Oilers OL.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

While watching film, I look at everything. Practice film, I’m watching myself and other people at my position and others seeing things that might work for them and see if I can incorporate it into my game. When studying my opponent, I look at how they play, how they react to certain situations and play styles, and favorite moves. I also look to see what other people do to have success against them each play and also what my opponent does successfully.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I think what separates me is, I know how to play football and get the job done. Technique is very important, but in some games you just have to get the job done by any means necessary. I feel like I react well to those situations and I know how to win from them.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I believe I bring a calming factor to a team. I’m not much of a vocal leader, I just lead by example. During games, it doesn’t matter if we are down 3 or up 30, my face remains the same. You can’t get too high or too low during a game. You have to keep the same dominant mindset throughout the entire 60 mins. Also, I’m trying to keep my teammates heads on straight, let them know to shake it off and be the best the next play if they just had a bad play. Off the field, I would think it’s hard not to get along with me. Not to sound conceited, people always tell me I’m the funniest guy they know and sometimes that I’m cool. Even when I try to be alone, people just tend to gravitate towards me.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch would be, I’m a guy that will do anything for the team. I stepped out from my Guard spot and played both Tackle positions. Even practiced some Center. It doesn’t matter if I have to lose 50 lbs and go run down the field on kickoff team to hit someone, I’ll make a play.
