Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
A goal I set for myself was to make all conference, and finish the semester off getting my degree. I didn’t get all conference honors but I was able to graduate at the end of the semester. A goal I had for the team was to win the conference championship and compete in the NCAA playoffs for the first time since 2014, and we accomplished that finishing the season with a 12-1 record.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say my potential to be a great player is very high and I’m a player that doesn’t say much but will lead guys by example. I’m a player that does what is asked of me and more. I know my role on the field, I’m an unselfish teammate and always looking to get better on and off the field.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I study Study film I focus on the Offensive Line and break down there tendencies when run blocking and pass blocking. I also watch film to work on my pre snap recognition, and things like knowing where the running back is going before he gets the ball handed to him. When I watch film of myself I try to identify three or more things each week I need to get better at to help my team be successful.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me is my work ethic, passion for the sport, leadership skills, and my instincts. I’m an explosive player, I play with good technique, and I have a motor that doesn’t stop. I love playing physical in the run game and love to get to the quarterback in the pass game. I have the ability to adapt to change quickly. I’ve had four different Defensive Line coaches in six years. I’ve never had an issue adjusting to new techniques and different styles of coaching. My potential is very high, and being a guy coming from a small school makes me want it even more. I’m only getting better!
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My off-season plan is to compete in three different senior bowl games against great competition, After the bowl games I’ll be training for pro day on March 30th. During my training I want to focus on my speed, strength, and nutrition. Working on these will allow me to play fast and physical and become an elite edge rusher or Outside Linebacker at the Professional level.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I’m going to bring great energy to a team, I’m a guy that can fly around the field play sideline to sideline and also affect the game on special teams. I’m a versatile player and have the ability to set the edge of the defense during the run game, the ability to get to the QB during the pass game, and the ability to drop back into coverage at times as well.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I am ready to work and bring my talent to any organization. When I’m given the opportunity to play at the next level, I will come ready to work every day to earn my spot. My passion and pride for this sport is unmatched and I am fully prepared to showcase that at the next level. Being a small school player I will always be hungry to work and play with a chip on my shoulder. Growing up, following my fathers path and playing in the NFL has always been my goal and I won’t stop chasing my goal until it’s accomplished.
