Name: Kareem Leaver
School: SUNY Brockport
Q: In your final collegiate season, what goals did you accomplish this fall or set for this upcoming spring?
Unfortunately I had no season due to covid.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say that I am a dog. They will tell you that I will play through any injury or adversity and do whatever it takes to help the team win.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
Focus on lineman tendencies, I would watch the same play over and over until I’m satisfied on what I see. The little things give you the biggest advantages in this game. Secondly I make sure my technique is good. I have to make sure I am using my hands and running to the ball, things that become habits and contagious.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I will be on every special teams. I don’t want to be one dimensional and I definitely want to be on the field for as long as possible throughout the game.
Q: What is your plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities, especially with the virus limiting pro days/training facilities/etc?
It’s really tough for a player like me, definitely since I’m from a small schooler. I built a gym in my garage to stay strong and work on conditioning at my high school field. Worst case scenario, I’ll be working out like rocky before he fought the Russian.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am extremely coachable. I appreciate when a coach is correcting me. I will never get down on myself and will run through a brick wall for my coaches and teammates. I will sacrifice my body for the team to win. Everyday I am just trying to be a better student of the game.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other professional leagues?
I’m comfortable being uncomfortable. Any situation that comes my way I’ll come out of it on top. All I know is work and I am willing to do whatever it takes!
