Name: Jimmie Warren
School: Utica University
Position: EDGE
Height: 6-3
Weight: 235
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goals were to make the NCAA playoffs, win the most games during a single season in our program’s history, finish the year with at least 10 sacks, make the all conference list, all region list and finish as the conferences defensive player of the year.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I believe that my coaches and teammates would say that I am an extremely hard worker. I push myself to be the best teammate and player on and off the field. I also believe that they would describe me as an excellent leader.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
The first thing I focus on is my technique. Self criticism is essential to getting better day in and day out. After that I like to focus on the first steps of each offensive tackle that I will be going against and potential ways I can make it harder for them to perform. I also like to look at the running backs and see if they have any keys that can give little things away.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
The versatility that I bring to the position. I am able to play on the line and set the edge, I am able to rush the passer off the edge and also from the interior line, and I am able to play at linebacker depth and drop back into coverage.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I will continue to work with the workout staff from Utica and continue to work on my craft. I am staying ready and making sure I am available for whatever opportunity that I may get next. I am also going to continue to get better at all necessary workouts to perform well.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am a player that will do whatever is needed from the team in order for us to succeed. I am able to play all special teams and make an impact in any aspect of the game. When discussing off the field abilities, I have always given back as much as I could to the community and people around me. I do not plan on changing that, and I plan on working to help even more people in the future.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I want them to know that I am an extremely hard worker that will always do what the team needs. I am also very versatile so I am able to fit into many different roles that the teams may need me to go into. I will continue to work and be the best I can be at what I do.
