Je’Narus Hood: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Je’Narus “Jay” Hood
School: Johnson C. Smith
Position: WR
Height:  6’3″
Weight: 190

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

For starters, we won more games than the previous year. I did my best at trying to be a leader and showing a lot of the younger guys I was playing with, how to win. Not only how to win, but to continue to win. It’s a mindset and a work ethnic you have to maintain. That was something branded into me from my previous school.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They would say I work hard and that I am team-driven. I take a lot of heat from defenses so I make a lot of sacrifices for the team. Also, they would say I am the one to come to when we need a big play or a big conversion. In big time situations, I come out big for us.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I watch myself and how I react to things. It’s all about how you react and can react to something at WR. I watch the defensive schemes as well as what the DB tends to do during those play calls. Reading the safeties will always tell you what your corner is going to do as well as his depth or his eyes. Those are things I look for when studying film.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My ball skills will be number 1, catching the ball at the highest point. Great hands and the will do any and everything to help my team win. Even on special teams. I make all sacrifices necessary to getting us the win.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I will continue my normal workouts with my team, as far as our schedule and do drills of such with my trainer until any opportunity presents itself.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Hard-working, high energy and a passion for what I do. The ability to just get the job done on whatever it is. I tend to give off that energy that a lot of people love and tend to care for because I do everything from the heart. My passion will be the biggest one.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

My name is Jay Hood and I am a force to be reckoned with. Coming from a small town and school, I have nothing to lose but everything to show you. My faith and will has gotten me this far, and that will stay with me until the end.
