What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The goals that I set for myself and team this year were to play in the postseason, be an All-American, and finish my career with 3 or less sacks given up total. We accomplished the goal of playing in the postseason even though it was a bowl game instead of playoffs, it was still a huge accomplishment for our team. The second goal, I was named first team all conference and second team all super region-3 and am still waiting on the All-American list. And I was able to accomplish my goal of 3 or less sacks in my career, finishing with 3.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
I used the extra year of eligibility from Covid to improve my chances to make it to the next level by using that time to get bigger, faster, and stronger as well as improve my technique on the field. It was really a blessing in disguise and allowed me to hone my craft.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I believe that my coaches and teammates would say that I am trustworthy. As an offensive lineman, I believe that is one of the best traits to have. The team and coaches can trust me to get a job done and I will find a way.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I am studying my own film, I am focusing on my technique. Mostly the small things like hand placement, hips and my feet, what steps I’m taking and things like that. When I’m studying opponents film, I’m mostly looking at tendencies and play styles of the DL that I am going to be facing. I am also looking at how they react to and take on blocks so that I can see if adjustments need to be made.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me from the other pro prospects in my class is I am versatile and I will always rise above and beyond the level of my competition, I am a competitor. I realize that at the next level I’d likely play Center or Guard and I believe I am versatile and athletic enough to play anywhere on the line, I played C all my life before college.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My off-season plan to train is to stay here in OK and train with a trainer and former NFL player in OKC, JR Conrad. I plan on taking my game to the next level and preparing for pro day/workout opportunities.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
The strengths and abilities that I bring to a team are a high football IQ and an unrelenting desire to play the game. I believe I can make all the blocks necessary at that level and be a trustworthy teammate.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to the NFL and other pro teams is this, if you give me an opportunity, you will not be disappointed. I know what it’s like to be an underdog and be overlooked and I have been able to rise above and beyond the competition before and I will do it again.
