Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My role this season was to be a good teammate. I honestly think I fulfilled that role.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I’ll do whatever needs done; especially those things that others won’t. I seek to put the team first; I just want to win. I’ll give you everything I’ve got every day.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

As a tight end, the most important aspect of the athlete is footwork. This is applicable to blocking and route running. Your feet can help you beat a D-End that is more athletic than you and help create separation on a defender that is faster than you.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My stint in the offensive line room is probably the most unique in this prospect class. My knowledge of the game changed drastically when I began to truly understand run schemes. When you’re on the line you have to know where every moving piece is turning. Additionally, it is necessary to use a tight end to pass block occasionally, and I am confident in my abilities to do so now.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

Most of my time training since the end of the season has been spent at Backroad Strength with Kyle Garretson. He follows the conjugate system, which uses variety workouts to increase opportunities to train major muscle groups, while simultaneously decreasing chance of injury. I totally credit him with getting me ready for Pro Day, where I hit 25 reps on 225. I trained for speed and agility with Tom Belmaggio, who wears far too many hats to name them all. He helped me shave several tenths of seconds off of my 40, shuttle, and 3-cone. He also helped me drastically increase the distance on my broad jump. I spent a weekend in Knoxville training with Lee Smith and Adarius Bowman at Triple F. Lee showed me how to powerfully engage an opponent as quickly as possible, and how to use my feet to continue that engagement. Coach Bowman doctored my route running by showing me leverage and separation technique. My skill specific drills were greatly impacted by that weekend. I transformed my diet by essentially eliminating added sugars. I went from 15% to 10% body fat while only losing a few pounds. I also added a ton of protein, fruits and vegetables, and vitamins. I look and feel better than I ever have.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I have a big frame and strong hands. I can block well in many different scenarios. I can catch, especially in traffic. I have experience being in different positions, which helps me to operate with a more whole understanding of the game.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I just want an opportunity. I will do whatever you need me to whenever you need me to do it.
