Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My main goal this season was to win a conference championship. Although we came up short of that, I still had some individual accomplishments that I am proud of. I went 1st-Team All- Conference 2 years in a row. I was player of the week 3x in 2 seasons. I finished the season leading the conference in tackles with 110. Lastly, I had a lot of academic accolades that went along with my athletic achievements. Overall, it was a good year for me.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say that I am a leader on and off the field and I take my craft very seriously. Along with being a great linebacker, my mental capacity for the game is very high and it is constantly growing because I am always trying to get better. It all roots from my love and respect for the game. I appreciate the fact that in football, you have to put in the required work and more in order to be successful and that’s what drives my work ethic to be the way it is.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I am a huge tendency guy when it comes to watching film. I always look for tendencies in things such as down and distance, formation, body demeanor, and even weight distribution of some players’ stances to give me an idea of what’s coming. I look for anything that can help us determine an upcoming play.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me from other pro prospects is my mental capacity for the game, my overall work ethic, and my ability to put team success over any individual reward. I have the physical qualities and the skill to play at the next level. Anyone can have that, but the way I handle everything else when it comes to meetings, workouts, watching film, nutrition, and extra work is what pushes me past other players that may be bigger, faster, or stronger. I’ve attacked the game with a pro mentality and a desire to be great ever since I got into college to get myself ready for the next level.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Well, right now I’m in the middle of a training program in order to get ready for pro day. I believe with the work I am getting in now, I will be able to put up the numbers that the scouts want to see.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
When it comes to the field, I believe that my best qualities are my speed at my position, my mental capacity for the game, my competitiveness, my blitzing ability, honestly, I believe I’m a great overall linebacker. Throughout my college tenure I’ve played all three line backing positions so I have a lot of experience in different areas. When it comes to off the field, I never have any off the field issues that a lot of players have and I have an extremely high work ethic for the game of football. I will always be willing to do more in order to be the best player I can be so the team can win games.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
Drafting me, you will be getting great linebacker with a burning desire to be great and to win. I love and respect this game so I put my all into it. I know a lot of teams are hesitant to draft small school guys and I understand that but I’m not like anybody else. I believe my film shows that even though I’m not the perfect player, I can play at a high level with anybody in the country. I believe my coaches, teammates, athletic support staff, university staff, anyone you ask will vouch for me in that matter. Even some opposing coaches that I played against could vouch for me. I know for fact that any team that drafts me will not regret it.
