What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
This season was about being the best leader possible for my team. Being a 3rd year captain meant a lot regarding my responsibility and representation of my team. It had been a goal of mine since entering the program to shift the culture, and with the help of my teammates and coaches I was able to spearhead that initiative. Throughout that process I was able to flourish in our 4-2-5 defense and become an All-Conference player.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
The extra year of eligibility was without a doubt a game changer for me. I was able to see the game through a different perspective by coaching a local area high school. Seeing the game through this lens was a great experience that took my football IQ to a new level. Combining that with utilizing the extra time to up my explosion and size in the weight room, I really was able to make the most out of the extra year.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My teammates would tell you that I am a selfless football player with unmatched passion for the game. I am always someone that can be relied on as well as a player that does not back down from a challenge.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
While looking at film, I always try to break down my errors from a fundamental standpoint. Over complicating the game can really impede performance, so when I see something that I could improve on, I always analyze my fundamentals first. I like to re-run scenarios seeing what I could’ve done better. Whether that be maintaining proper leverage on a reach block or running the hoop on a pass rush, errors always come down to fundamentals.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I believe that my football IQ and leadership ability truly separates me from the pack. I am a student of the game and will always be situationally aware any time I am on the field. My poise and confidence will elevate any organization that signs me.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My plan has been similar to my preparation during the pandemic. Strength and explosion have been primary focus points, lifting 4-5 days a week as well as field work at least 2 days. Mixing in flexibility is also equally important to me.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I believe that my demeanor and poise will be a great asset to any organization. I am a leader both on and off the football field. My lateral speed and tackling ability will show each game that I am a part of, and I will be a person that others look to when adversity strikes.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
By signing me, you will not only add a great player to your team but a great leader/person to your program as well. I will work relentlessly to put myself and my teammates in the best positions to stop opposing offenses and win football games.
