Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Starting the season off I wrote down that I just wanted to win more games then last year, have a winning season. Then I wrote down, win a championship. Fast forward a bit we won more games, became conference champs and we laid the foundation for years to come! Personally, I wanted to be a better player & teammate, have better technique, lean out a bit and receive a higher all conference award.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They would say that I am a team player, I’ll make the sacrifice and do with a smile. They would say also I’m the most reliable, I going to be on time, I’m going to play through injuries, I not missing practices or games and I’ll play any position if we need it. That’s been my whole thing since I started playing football was to be reliable.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When I watch film I’m not looking to improve my game in that way. I’m looking for weakness in other players, tendencies, moves they use, how long it takes until they get fatigued, quickness, then fronts, blitzes and schemes. Then from there I put together a mental list of what moves I can use to help me in the game. I’ll then tell the scout team D-line what moves to use this week then I’ll go from there.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
There’s 2 things. The first is that I chip and the second is that I Have been through tuff real life issues. But, When I say chip Im saying is that got me to where I am now it wasn’t because I was gifted or had God given talent it was because I chipped away no matter where I was. I’m going to find my way into the starting line up. I just Chip everyday to get there. Then I just dealt with real life issues people haven’t dealt with yet or won’t ever deal with. So, what I’ve noticed was when something bad happens on or off the field they don’t no how to handle it.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Well, I’m always working out I won’t every stop that. But I’m training with a trainer back home then on a program while I’m finishing my classes back at school.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Team and Locker room player, I learned when I was young that I have a gift to connect with so many different people and create a chemistry that’ll bring people together. I also have a good vision and reaction time to things happening on the field that’s why I’m a strong believer I can play a lot of different positions. When I fully trust what I’m seeing those are the games I play the best.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
I don’t really have a pitch. But I would say if you where to give me a chance. You’ll be getting a locker room guy that’s hard working and is someone that’ll bring a team together. I’m that guy. If you look back on every team I played on. Look at our records each year. Each team I’ve been on has improved or have won some sort of championship you think it’s a coincidence? Take a chance and find out.
