Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goals for my last season were to be the best and most consistent player I could be and be the best teammate I could be. While I worked to be the best punter in the country, I was still blessed to have finished 6th in the nation in punt average, receive All-ACC honors for the third time in my career, lead the ACC in 50+ yard punts as well as inside the 20 punts, and post the highest net punt average of my career. This was a huge testament to my teammates. I hope I helped a lot of the younger guys get ready to play by spending extra time with them this season.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I love my teammates and coaches at Wake- we’ve had a really fun four years together. I think the people in the program respect my work ethic and my passion for the game and the process. They see me as a football player that happens to punt, not a punter trying to play football.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I focus on my consistency in my hands, footwork, drop, and swing. My goal is to be confident in being able to what to fix and how to fix it whenever I mishit a ball. Being the most consistent player possible allows me to perform in whatever game situations I face.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I feel my athleticism and my mindset separates me most. As a former quarterback and three sport athlete (baseball, basketball) through high school, I can add value with my hands as a punter and holder or with any fakes a team may run. And as a determined player, I work really hard which allows me to have a confident mindset to perform on game day.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Even though the virus has changed what my process looks like in terms of Pro Day and workouts, I’m continuing to train hard as I normally would and balancing my punting and workout schedule throughout the week to be ready for any opportunity that comes my way.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I feel my passion for my faith, the game, my teammates, my job and my community will stand out on and off the field. I plan on putting all of my effort into helping our team win football games by willing myself into the best player possible as well as using our platform to impact others positively.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
I’m pumped to get an opportunity to show the value I can add at my position as an athlete and a competitor. As a punter, I can hit the big ball consistently for hang or distance, hit directionally, and drop inside the 20. Ultimately, they’ll be getting someone who will give all of myself to being the best at my position as well as someone who will genuinely care for everyone in the organization.
