Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
One of my main goals for my senior year was to make an impact on the sideline or while I was in the game. The first thing I would try to do to make an impact in the game was when I’m punting to either make a momentum play,or flip the field with my strong leg. Many times during the season the team would need me to make a big punt to flip the field. With the help of the punt cover unit we were able to accomplish that goal. The other goal was to encourage my teammates to stay in the game, and keep the mood joyful because we are out there to have fun. If you aren’t having fun then you’re playing the game wrong. You can still have fun with laser focus on winning the game.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
Loud, energetic, truthful, & friendly teammate.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
The main thing I try and focus on is high leg extension with my toe pointed all the way through the punt. Leg extension is such a huge thing for punters and I can always get better at that one thing in my game.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
Personally I believe it’s my big strong leg and I’m not your normal punter who doesn’t look like an athlete. I’m built like a Linebacker playing Punter and I honestly feel like not a lot of Punters can say they have that going for them. I’m a punter who set 2 lifting records (500 squat & 35.25 in vertical) who runs a 4.70 40 time. My athleticism is what should separate myself from everyone.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I trained in Manhattan, KS until my pro day with Chris Allen and Evan Rapp of the Kansas State strength staff. After the pro day and with all that’s happening in the world right now I was unable to continue working out at K-State because of the complex closing down due to COVID-19, so I had to adapt to the situation and moved back to Lenexa, KS at my parents house. I’m currently lifting at an at home gym and punt with Johnny Beck and occasionally Mike Scifres.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I’m an easy guy to please and get along with. I feel like I can bring sociable aspect to a team. I love being around my teammates and building team chemistry. In my mind the team is only as good as the team’s chemistry. I also feel like I can bring athleticism to the punting position whichever team I go to and making 4th downs or holding for field goals fun.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
It’s been a life long dream to be able to play professional sports. I’m very passionate what I do on a daily basis and I bring 100% effort to everything I do. The most important thing I want to be able to do is make an impact on people’s lives with my platform and be able to perform at the highest level possible that God has blessed me with each opportunity presented to me. My goal is to be playing professional football for years to come, and now the exciting part is where my opportunity will come first.
