Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
The goals I set in my final season was to Be a great team leader, maintain a 3.4 gpa through the season, and help my team win a conference championship. I wanted to be all conference and an All American again. Unfortunately, we came up short on winning the conference. However I did finish the semester with a 3.76 gpa and I made the all conference team, the all region team, And The Afca All American team.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and my teammates would say I love the game of football. That I will always come ready to work and that I will work hard and challenge people to work harder than me. They will say I am a leader and I lead by example and players would say I’m someone they can look up too. That I love to have fun and grind and give motivation speeches. My teammates would say I am a pastor for the team because I always pray for the team. My coaches would say I’m coachable, respectful, selfless, determined, humble and driven.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film If I am watching myself I like to see if I gave a good effort, did I have good technique and executed my assignment, did I win my one on one match up. If I’m blocking, do I keep my feet moving, stay low and finish the play if I am running a route, do I run a good route, do I get open, do I catch the ball or find work if the ball did not come to me. I’m also looking at my body language. If I did not do something correct I am taking note of it and working on it the first chance I get. If I’m watching film on another team or opposing team player, I am looking at the coverages and the Dline fronts. Then learning the player and personnel. Then learning the actual player to look for tendencies and habits and also look to see how they progress as the game goes. Then I know what I can do to help me execute my assignment.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me is my personality and character. I know that football is not just about the game itself. I am someone you want to have to worry about getting into trouble. I am a very respectful young man. I am coachable and always ready to work hard and make improvements. Also I make the game bigger than me and I think about the youth and I aim to inspire them. I am very confident and I believe in myself. When it comes to on the field I have a good football IQ and I have some good hands. I can handle adversity well. I will play whatever my coaches need me to play. I like special teams and will play them. I like contact, I like to block and I can catch and make plays. I can learn quickly and I can accept coaching. I will work hard to improve and I will not get complacent.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My plan is to train and keep getting faster, stronger and gaining knowledge. Correcting little mistakes and working on my craft. I have a great trainer who has been helping me and my coaches have been helping me as well. Lastly, make sure I’m ready at all times.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I bring the strengths to block or reach an end. I can block a linebacker or win a one on one route against one. I can find the open space and get there and have the forsure hands to catch the ball. I have big play ability. I can turn a 5 yard gain into a 20 yard gain. I can make those tough catches in traffic. I bring the strength of having good energy the whole game that if my team is down I’m trying to pick them back up. I can handle adversity and have next play mentality and not let one play affect me. I am durable and have mental toughness. Also I will have class on and off the field and I love to interact with the little kids after the games. I’m the type of person who after games throws the ball to the kids or races them. I want kids to believe they too can play professional football. Also I would give back and interact with the community.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch is that I am a player who is going to come ready to work and get better every day. I am going to try to make an impact on the field and off. I am going to trust my coaches and the process I will be invested into the organization. I will carry myself the right way and represent the team with great attitude and character. I want to help the team accomplish their goals while doing my part. I will not be dead weight. I love the game of football and I have a lot to prove. My best is yet to come. I just need the chance.
