What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goal was to make my last season my best season. To continue to display my willpower to every offensive line I’ve gone up against. To show even though I am a nose guard in a 3-3 defensive front, I can still make big time plays instead of just holding up blocks.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
This extra year of eligibility was truly a blessing. To be able to come back and play another season with my brothers was amazing. We broke numerous school records. I was also able to show how hard work pays off if you stay consistent and not get bored with the little things.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I think they would say I am a dominant player, and that I play the game with toughness, anger, and passion that is unique. They would also say that I am a leader, that can lead by example by how I play, learn, and lift.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I mainly focus on the opponent that is lined up in front of me. I watch his tendencies like his stance, hand placement, footwork, body language, and demeanor. Every lineman has tells to what they are about to do, so I try to figure those out to give a slight beat on my opponent.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I play the game with this extremely hot fire. In game situations the opponent is not a friend, they are trying to figure out ways to beat me and show their dominance. So I have to beat them there and show my dominance from the very start. I’m also tough, coachable, and open to any form of advice that can be given.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I jumped on my training the next week after my last game. Making sure my strength and other abilities don’t fade by taking a break. I plan on getting training plans for my former strength coach, to make sure I target those explosive movements and speed work.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I will bring toughness, character, trust, and accountability to any team on and off the field. To be coachable and hard working, whether that’s in practice, film sessions, weight room, and off the field projects.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
All I ask for is an opportunity to show off my skill set. To be able to show any league what I have to offer will truly be an amazing blessing. So all I’m asking for is just a chance.
