Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I set both team goals and individual goals. First for our team, I wanted our defense to be the number 1 scoring defense in our conference. We ended up 2nd but we led our conference in interceptions and were 3rd in the nation which was huge for our team. As an individual, I wanted to be top 10 in the nation in passes defended for the 2nd year in a row. Although I was not, I ended up being tied for 4th in the nation in interceptions, which I was happy about, and that led to a first team all conference selection which was another one of my goals.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
Leader and Team player. I enjoy seeing others do well and I enjoy spreading football knowledge to others.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
Route concepts are the main thing I’m looking at. I want to get a feel for what plays are being called and when they are being called.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I would say production. I have always found a way to get my hands on the football whether it’s a pass breakup, an interception or a forced fumble.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My plan is to train with our strength coach at USD Mark Lamoreaux. He has done an unbelievable job getting guys prepared for their pro days in the past and has helped me improve as a player throughout my four years in the program.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Leadership and Football IQ are the main things that I pride myself on. Guys are going to feel comfortable talking to me about football or just about whatever is going on in their life. I’ve always wanted to be a great teammate and hopefully I have been that so far and will continue to be in the future.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
Any team that will take a chance on me will get a guy that knows what he is going to do, will lead vocally and by example and will compete his butt off.
