Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My personal goals I set for this season were heavily set on my mental toughness and preparation. I wanted to make sure that day in and day out I got better with each rep. I knew that physically I had prepared to dominate and am more than capable of doing so. Stressing the mental side of things to elevate my game is the last and most consistent goal I carry every day. From a team goal stand point my goal is the same every year, to elevate the people around me and build trust through giving my team effort in everything I do as well as motivate and hold people accountable to the standard set for my program. I feel I accomplished both of these goals, although my personal goal is something that I currently can work on still. There are always ways to improve and it is very important to me to be a sponge and find ways to up my game.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say I am dedicated, driven, bought in, positive always, and an unselfish team player. My coaches would stress the unselfishness about me, it is about the strength of the pack and not an individual. I stepped into a inside linebacker position going into game 1 because of events that happened and the first thing I said was “I’m excited”. Going from starting safety to inside backer most people would be bummed, but I love my team and respect the game of football, my passion for this team sport allows me to stay positive no matter what role I am called to do. My coach would praise that side of me, sacrificing a starting position at a spot that gets recognized to execute at a position that is crucial to win games and may not get noticed that much.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When it comes to studying film I take this very seriously. Having moved positions from safety to Will linebacker in the first week of season I hopped straight into the film room and began studying. I immediately looked at the box, going through my eye discipline on every play/formation and making sure I am seeing the right things so whe game time comes I see it, I believe it and can hit it fast. I also use small details in my keys of how a person is lining up, if there are differences in each play to help me act upon impulse to shoot and make big plays, or even be the one to shut down a run gap or two so I can open the way for my teammates. I take film study very seriously, a very important quote I take with me is if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

Determination, Effort, Competitiveness, Unselfishness, Versatility, and Football IQ. I can play all spots on the defensive side of the ball and through my last two years at my university after transferring from junior college I did just that. What separates me from other players is I am disciplined and always open to coaching and peer criticism. I would start at safety, something happens during the game like an injury at corner and I am the next best guy for the job so that’s where I go. No questions asked just give high effort and dominate where I can for the success of my team. As I stated before I got moved from starting safety to starting linebacker my senior year and I came with the mindset of dominating that’s all. Many players are quick to complain if something is not the way they want. To me the stress of playing as a team is crucial in being successful and winning games.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

My offseason plans to help me prepare is no different from what I have been doing. Training consistently and tracking my progress, also stressing big on flexibility and functional movement. Your best ability is your availability and I will continue to keep my body sharp and strong as well as my mind. Bringing that all together I am prepared to face anything thrown at me.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Strengths I will bring on the field are effort, comradery with my team, motivation for everyone, and competitiveness. Being positive on and off the field is something that comes effortlessly. I am from Hawaii, I grew up in a culture called Aloha spirit. That is the coordination of mind and heart in each person. In addition to that I pride myself on discipline, both on and off the field. I will uphold any standard and image set for the team at any cost.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

If you are looking for someone to come in and make a positive impact right away I am that person. I want to make any team that takes a chance on me shine brighter than they already are. Effort, Discipline, Team Player, and most of all playing fast is what I am all about. I am ready to step into any role that will be asked of me and not only execute but DOMINATE!!!
