Name: Bryce Murphy
School: Pittsburg State University
Position: WR/RS
Height: 6-1
Weight: 205

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I set a couple different goals ranging between team & personal. For team goals, I set going 1-0 every week, FINISH (wether it be a set in the weight room, two stripes after you get the ball, or a mental rep), & to do it for each other (how do you measure that? We measure it on blocking for you rbs, playing ST, and not slacking). For personal goals I set become All-American WR/PR, over 1,500 yards receiving, and Harlem Hill Award. I didn’t get to meet most of my individual goals because I only played in 5 games. I ended the season with 500+ yards and 6 touchdowns, and i also got 1st team All MIAA.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I believe my teammates would say that I’m unselfish but also a dominant competitor. I want my brothers to achieve their personal goals as well as mine. So blocking on the perimeter or running in touchdown alley (A touchdown block downfield) is as important as scoring or get my receptions. In the WR room we talked about making the bus, and so I wanted to set that example for the team and be on every ST there is. I wanted to win more than anyone on the field and I let the coaches and my teammates know that.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I not only watch myself and the good/bad i watch my teammates perform. What did they do that works? What did they do that didn’t? I watch the opponent as a whole defense or ST. Against other teams and us from prior years. As a WR you have to know what coverage, what leverage, and how much time you have in a route (blitz/pressure). I have to learn the opposing team’s techniques and tendencies as well.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I’m an all around athlete. A swiss army knife. With the drive to win. you can measure ability; like 40’s, verticals, and so on, but you cannot measure heart. I want to see the field and help my team be successful. As a WR I can play both outside and inside. I can block on the perimeter and or get in the trenches and help on a big DE or LB. As a ST guy, I wanna put our team in great field position and set the team up for success on each drive.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

This off-season I plan on going back to Utah to do speed training as well as train with Aaron Lesue. He is a former pro athlete (AFL, NFL, & olympic bobsled team) and WR. He is also a nutritionist. Getting me on a personalized diet and workout routine.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

As a WR on the field, I can be used in different ways. I can play outside or inside and even out of the backfield. I have vertical speed and a red zone vertical to go and attack the ball. On the inside I can get mismatches with safeties and LBs. I can use my quickness to my advantage as well. I can block bigger bodies and keep up with faster Secondary players. Off the field I can be used to improve myself and my teammates around me. By watching film, developing a bond, and trying anyway possible to get an edge on the opposing teams.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I’m willing to do the stuff other players aren’t willing too. I’m willing to make decisions when others aren’t. I’m willing to sacrifice fun and free time to gain the slightest edge, and I thrive on pressure. To end, I know who I am.
