Name: Brandon Pertile
School: The University of Virginia
Position: Offensive Tackle/Guard
Height: 6’5″
Weight: 325
Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
I set four goals ahead of the season last summer. 1) Lead the team in knockdown blocks. 2) Receive All-Conference honors. 3) Give up no sacks. 4) Take the team to a bowl game.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Aggressive, blue-collar, and unselfish.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I am training at UVa’s football facility with the football performance staff. I am getting individualized attention and have been seeing massive progress up to this point. I am focusing all of my time and energy on training and preparing myself for Virginia’s Pro Day.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
I observe the entire defense on each play. Safety depth, Linebacker leans, corner press, and the D-Line stances. I take note of things that stick out of the norm and track them play by play to see if I can find a player’s tell for a blitz or pass rush move. I watch for things like a guy keeping a certain foot back when he stunts, or where their alignment is versus a given formation. Similarly, I watch individual players and assess their talent against players that I respect from other teams.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I am a guy that is going to work my tail off until I drop. I won’t back down from any challenge and I do what it takes to win. I am unselfish and I love to see my teammates succeed alongside of me. My attitude on the field is contagious among the OL and I am the guy that you can confidently run behind on a 3rd or 4th and short.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Outside of the pylons, I am a student of the game, constantly studying plays and opposing defenses. I am a guy that loves to help teammates to achieve their goals from film study or extra position work. I can bring the attitude that we’re going to be a butt-kicking Offensive Line and there isn’t a thing anyone is going to do about it. I will motivate and work until any given task is completed. Not to mention, I love this game and have been in love with it since the age of 4.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I am a diamond in the rough, I am eager to fit into any role I can on any team. I just love the game of football and strive to play until my body does not allow it. I am hungry for success and will work until I find it. All I need is a shot!
