Brad Hargis: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Brad Hargis
School: Trinity International University
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 200

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

Some of my goals for my final season were to win a conference championship, play my best football to date, and help develop the younger Wide Receivers under me. Although we did not achieve the first goal, I did achieve the latter two. I was the only upperclassmen on the receiving corps, so there was a lot of pressure on me to lead and play well. I hope that I set a high standard of what commitment and hard work should look like over 4 years of being with a program.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Fast, Explosive, and Consistent.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I believe that my intangibles(speed and strength) are at an level that I can succeed in professional football. So my main focus in training is to spend a lot of time with positional coaches and continue to develop my football skills. I will be spending a lot of time at a facility in Southern California called Stars working with some of the best Wide Receiver coaches in the country, as well as spending time in Illinois with the Health Performance Institute improving my durability and maintaining my explosiveness.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

When I watch film, I look for a lot of things regarding individual players that I will be facing. I try to find habits and tip offs from Cornerbacks on how they press and what gets them to turn their hips. Then I look at how different game situations will impact the aggressiveness and play styles of those respective players.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

My football IQ, consistency, and passion for the game is what separates me from others. A lot of people are tall and can run. A lot of plays and concepts can be thrown at me and I know that I can be trusted in big time game situations. My college coach was never afraid to install new things on short notice because he knew that I could handle it and run it well.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My ability to rapidly change gears on the field will definitely stand out. I possess a lot of speed for a guy at my height so I can play different roles. I can be a possession guy or a deep threat depending on the schemes of the team that I land with. Off the field, I always make it a priority to develop good relationships with my teammates.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I have a good frame with plenty of speed to go along with it. I believe that I also have a really high ceiling. I have only been playing the receiver position since college, so I know that with a few practices learning from other pros and pro coaches, my game will be elevated drastically. I love to learn and I will absorb a ton of information in a short period of time and this knowledge will be applied immediately on the field.
