Blaise Taylor: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview
Name: Blaise Taylor
School: Arkansas State University
Position: Cornerback/Return Specialist
Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
Some of my goals heading into my senior season were to win a conference championship, to
make first team all-conference, to set a school record in punt returns and pass break-ups, and lead my team to a bowl game.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Fast, Physical, and Smart.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I have been training right outside of Dallas at Michael Johnson Performance and working with former Cowboys’ defensive back, Kevin Smith.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
When watching film, I focus on two things, offensive coordinators’ situational tendencies and opponents’ weaknesses and tendencies. I also study special teams film. I like to know where and how far the punter and kicker usually kicks the ball. I like to also study the best cover guys on each unit.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I think the thing that separates me the most from people who play my position is my technique, fundamentals, and football IQ.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I will bring great character, a positive attitude, and be a great teammate and leader to any organization I am a part of. I will be a hard worker and always be team oriented. I will also bring an extremely competitive spirit and winning mentality in all aspects of life to the organization.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I love football! I love everything about the game of football. I love the competitiveness, the physicality, the preparation, and the grind. I would like NFL teams to focus on my play making
ability, athleticism, speed, football IQ, and character. I have returned a kick for a touchdown
every year of my career since 7th grade and would like to have the opportunity to keep that streak alive. I am confident that I will make an impact defensively and on special teams as a return man and cover guy. I believe that my character and skill set will positively impact any organization on and off the field. Whatever team gives me the opportunity to play for them, I will work hard
every single day to prove that they made the right decision by providing me this opportunity.
