Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Individually I hoped to end the season with no sacks given up and become an All-American. As a team I was hoping to help lead our team to a conference championship.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say I’m an unselfish player who will do whatever it takes to make sure his teammates succeed.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I think keeping my hips square in pass pro and staying low while run blocking and pass blocking are two things I would like to work on.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I believe my athleticism and my brain are my two biggest assets. I started out as a tight end and a basketball player which both translated very well to the offensive line allowing me to have elite footwork and a greater ability to engage with quicker guys at the 2nd and 3rd levels. I also consider myself very adept in recognizing anomalies in the defense.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
This offseason I will be focusing on preparing mentally to be able to adapt to more packed offenses and understanding football at a higher level while also putting a focus on upper body strength and grip strength.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My adaptability to those around me is something I am very proud of. I have the ability to change play styles if necessary depending on who’s behind the center or running the ball or even who is playing next to me and that also goes with my ability to learn new playbooks quickly and new offensive philosophies (I had 3 offensive coordinators in my college careers).
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to an NFL team would be an explanation of my situation. I didn’t start playing offensive line till I reached college and I was able to rise to the top of my level in those few years with small school resources and my own work ethic. I believe I haven’t come anywhere near my highest potential yet due to this. A lot of guys from bigger schools who have had better resources and facilities have likely reached close to their full potential while I have ways to go.
