What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goals for this season were to win conference, make the playoffs, make first team All- Conference, and become an All- American. We fell short of winning conference and making the playoffs but set new school records as a team. I also made first team All- Conference and was in the running for DPOY. I fell short of making the All- American team.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
This extra year allowed me to put more games on film and improve in all facets of the game. I was able to produce against a lot of talented players and on a team with good athletes.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I am a leader on and off the field. I have a strong passion for what I do and take lots of pride in it. I also help others at multiple positions and players behind me to better their game.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film I like to pay attention to tendencies and strengths. This allows me to think about ways I can take your strengths away while in practice so it becomes second nature.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me is my willingness to hit and also my football intellect. I learn at a very fast pace and absorb a lot of information from coaches and other players. Being smaller than some players, I don’t mind giving a lick to bigger players and trying to impose my will physically.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I started training right after the season to give myself a head start and keep working on the minor details. Everyday is another opportunity to grow in a different aspect of the game.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
On the field I am a great communicator, leader, and adjuster. I tend too recognize plays ahead of time, make adjustments instantly, and also get players lined up up pre-snap. I also have a knack for being around the ball. Off the field I like to pick my teammates brain to see how they think and learn their tendencies.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I am a hardworking player who has always worked his way up and earn everything he gets. Bringing me onto your team is an opportunity for a young player to develop into a great player. I am willing to work my way up and trust the process.
