Aaron Castillo: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Aaron Castillo
School: Bemidji State University
Position: LS
Height: 6-2
Weight: 225

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I wanted to be able to go somewhere and do the job. 2 years of juco and 2 years at a 4 year school. Bemidji State had issues at the longsnapping position the previous year and it cost them a chance at playoffs. I came into the program hoping to do my job and do it well.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I think the coaches would say I’m a fixer. If it’s with me and the other snappers or even the kickers. I did my best to try and find something that could be fixed. You won’t be able to win games and championships if your backups aren’t as tuned in as the starters.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

As a longsnapper we don’t watch a lot of film, but when I did, it was usually checking on operations for both punt and PAT, and for punt, I would usually look for the guy that is gonna attempt to block me while running downfield.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I’m very coachable. Going into my senior season at Bemidji State, I had changed my grip and became more confident and more consistent with my snaps. There has always been at least one thing that has changed to the way I approach the ball when it comes to snapping.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I plan on working with my specialist coach down in AZ to stay as tuned up as possible. Working to get bigger and stronger.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I’m very disciplined. I don’t get into trouble and I do my best to keep my teammates out of trouble as well. I’ve been in scenarios on and off the field where I have been able to keep teammates from actions that could cost themselves and the team.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Just looking for the opportunity to show what I can bring to the table. As a longsnapper, you never want to hear the snappers name, and in my 9 year career of snapping, my name has yet to be said, unless it was for good accolades.
