Zed Brown: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Zed Brown
School: University of West Georgia
Position: Defensive Back
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 210

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

My first goal was to learn all the Safety and Will linebacker positions heading into the season. I believed by learning these positions would maximize my potential to help my team. My second goal was to win the Conference and National Championship.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Physical, technician, collective.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

During my training at U48 with Manny Rodriguez in Gwinnett County, I’ve strived to maximize my body’s potential with my speed, strength, agility, and most importantly flexibility.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

If it’s film of our game, I look to make any correction of myself or others in my position group that my coaches feel we may have made during the game. When I watch film on other teams, I focus on how the Quarterback handles pressure, does he look to throw or run when he is out of the pocket, and does he go through all progressions if his first read isn’t open. With running backs, I look to see their style of play and how much they are used in the passing game. Lastly, for Receivers, I look at their breaks, when is he targeted the most, and I pay attention to his speed for adjustments.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separated me at my position was my physicality and unselfishness. I am not a stat chaser, I pride myself at doing my job, and being the best at it. My only objective every week is finding a way to win. Also, I can adapt to changes during the game and never let the moment get to big.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field, you’re getting a dedicated, hardworking, and coachable player who is always looking to get better and prefect his craft. Also, I’m willing to play any position the coaches want or feel I would fit better at, including special teams. Off the field, I always look for a way to become stronger mentally and physically. This includes studying my playbook, going over game plans, working on position drills, and working out. Anything to prepare myself for the game.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

You’re getting a self-motivated, unselfish, physical, and dedicated player looking to come into a franchise to do whatever it takes to help and make the team better. I desire to get better every single day, whether it’s on or off the field.
