Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I always push myself and others on my team to set goals and succeed. I led my team as a 3 year captain to increase our record year over year. Personally, I accomplished my goal of being the first person in the conference to win the coach selected MIAC lineman of the year award twice. I played in all 40 games of my college career and was a repeat 1st team All-conference, 1st All-region.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates describe me as an athlete that strives for excellence in all aspects of his life. I am a selfless contributor on and off the field that will push the limits of hard work, talent, and dedication everyday. I support others in meeting their training goals and creating lifelong relationships with my teammates. I am an example of grit and character.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I analyze film to gain a competitive edge. I utilize time management (20-30 min then a break for 10 mins) to optimize for how the brain processes information. I implant scheme learning into film study by calling plays before each opponent film and mentally repping what my actions will be. Lastly, when I study the opponent across from me I start with their stance, watch their feet, and try to understand different tendencies or weaknesses that I can attack.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I am separated from others by my versatility and football IQ. Called the “swiss army knife” by Minnesota Viking pro-recruiter Jeff Robinson, my career at Gustavus is a showcase of versatility. I played three different positions in my time at Gustavus: DL, FB, and OL–usually in the same game. As a defensive lineman I have played all across the DLine such as DE, NG, DT, and stand up DE. With my ability to play all positions DLine I was adaptive to each defensive scheme. As FB I was used in short yardage to set the tone, quickness, and physicality to make the play when needed. My time on OLine I played and learned the positions of guard and tackle on both the left and right side of the line. I played both offense and defense in all 10 games this past year.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I train at ETS Sports Performance to better develop my strength, speed, agility, and football skills. I am also spreading my love of football and technique by hosting day camps for middle and high schoolers.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I bring the drive, teamwork, leadership, and power. While being a 3 year captain (longest tenure of a captain at my college), I helped lead the team to its highest winning percentage in 4 years since the 90’s. I drive an honest environment of hardwork and respect among my teammates–pushing myself and others to always have a learning mindset. My ability to be coachable has given me the opportunity to enhance my skill sets to compete at the highest level. In addition, I understand the importance of coaching as I have been a varsity coach for two different high school teams throughout my time at Gustavus.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I love the game and want to bring that passion to your team. I’m excited for and capable of being that versatile power player you need.
