Wilson Catoe: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Wilson Catoe
School: United States Military Academy
Position: FB

Height: 6’1”
Weight: 235

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My goal was to successfully transition over from Linebacker to Fullback. I was able to do so and found myself in the Fullback rotation pretty quickly. I wanted to score a couple touchdowns and help contribute to the team as best as I could, and I feel as if I achieved all my goals.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I believe that my coaches and teammates would say that I am one of the toughest players they’ve met, that I am strong, and am always willing to bet on myself no matter the situation. I also believe they would say I’m selfless and that I am there for them no matter what, that I have their backs, coaches and players.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

One of the main things I always focused on was violence through contact. That was my mentality playing both Linebacker and Fullback. I wanted to ensure that whoever I hit, they would go backwards. I also always focused on dissecting a play/formation in order to predict the play before the ball was even snapped.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I feel as if I am willing to sacrifice whatever I need to be successful and help out the team I am on. Nowadays I feel as if everyone is so focused on the fact that they want to preserve themselves/their bodies so they don’t get hurt, yet are fading away from the idea that football is a violent, dangerous sport and that you have to be willing to be as tough as nails and not shy away from the pain this sport brings. That is something I believe I excel at is toughness and willingness to sacrifice my body.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am going to continue to train and workout, but I am also going to start the transition of training to be ready for the Army and Ranger school. If I am blessed with an opportunity to join a team in the NFL, then it will be back to working out for the NFL and as a football player. My plan is to continue to get better in every aspect of my game by showing up to my workouts and killing it in the gym every day. It’s not time to coast or slow down it’s only time to speed up in my eye.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Leadership. I believe regardless of the situation or my authority on a team, I will always find a way to better myself, others, and the team as a whole through what right looks like — being the example. You never know someone’s situation at the time so always being a shoulder to lean on is what I find helps build cohesive, effective teams.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

If you want someone who will genuinely put it on the line for their team and play fast, physical, and tough, then I’m your guy. Ultimately, I’m just grateful to even be in the position I am right now and regardless of what my next steps in life are whether that’s the NFL or leading America’s sons and daughters as an infantry officer in the US Army, I’m just blessed to have the opportunity.
