Tyler Modlin: 2018 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Tyler Modlin
School: Webber International University
Position: Fullback/H-Back/Linebacker/Special Teams
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 220

Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?

My goals that I had for my Senior year were to be the best Fullback in NAIA, make my name remembered at Webber, and just to be a great leader for my team to be successful.

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Physical, Elite, Smart.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I will be training with Bryant Tisdale at Ultimate Stomping Grounds in Clearwater, FL. I will be training with a few other guys that play in the NFL that will push me, like Artavis Scott.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

I look at the Linebacker’s tendencies when they are blitzing or playing games before the snap. I watch how the Linebackers and box Safeties play the run and the pass. How they tackle, if they strip the ball, favorite pass moves when they blitz, and how physical they are. I look how they take on blocks so I know how to beat them on any block. Also, I look at the Defensive Line’s first steps and what technique they line up in that gives away what stunt they will run or how they take on kick out blocks. I like to see what the defense’s favorite blitz and stunts are and on what downs. Anything that will give me a competitive advantage.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I am excellent in both pass blocking and run blocking. I am good at reading defenses to know where they are blitzing and how to pick them up. I run the ball physically and if I have to, I can make a defender miss in open field. I can play multiple positions to help the team out.
I’m smart, my work ethic, and the amount of time I spend in the film room is what will continue to separate me from everyone else. I am coachable and will never have to be coached on the same thing twice.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I am always working 110% to perfect my craft at everything. I put my all into everything I do. I like to give back to the youth and the community to help them out as well to be a role model for the kids. Leadership and accountability. I’ll always go above and beyond for my teammates, I owe them that.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I put my all into to this game and will do anything it takes to help the organization to be successful! I am not selfish and I am a TEAM player. You are getting a football player at the end of the day. Someone that loves and cherishes the game. Someone that will always put the team first before himself and will always out work everyone in the building, first in last out.
