Tropical Bowl 2017 Spotlight: Marquell Beckwith

Marquell Beckwith, who played his first four years at Troy, was a graduate transfer at Alabama State. He was the hero of the Hornets when he scored the go ahead touchdown against rival Alabama A&M. Unfortunately the Hornets fell short in that game due to a missed extra point, but Beckwith a star rushing for two touchdowns in the game. Beckwith is looking forward to showcasing his talent on January 15th in front of NFL scouts.

Q: How have you been preparing for the game on Sunday?

Marquell: I’ve been preparing by training with Georgia Sports Performance in Atlanta , Georgia with Coach Earl Williams and James Wilder Jr.

Q: If you were talking with a scout, how would you pitch yourself?

Marquell: I will look them right in their eyes so they could feel the determination and hunger I have for the game of football and show them that no player will ever outwork me.

Q: Why did you decide to play in the Tropical Bowl and what do you expect to get out of it?

Marquell: I decided to play in the Tropical Bowl because I felt like it was the right thing to do. I played in the FCS National Bowl back in December and I got invited back to this one. I hope to build my draft stock and show the scouts that I have what it takes to play at the next level.

Q: What is your best memory playing football?

Marquell: My best memory of football is when I get to see my kids after the game. No matter if we won or lost the game, seeing their faces always makes me happy.

Look for Marquell Beckwith on January 15th in the Tropical Bowl. He will be wearing #23 on the National Red team coached by Mike Stock.
