Name: Timothy Walton
School: Texas Southern
Position: LB

Height: 6’2”
Weight: 230

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

With my Masters Degree completed and under my belt, my goals for my final season were to simply relax, lock-in and play the best way I know how to -Aggressive and Relentless.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

The extra year of eligibility gave me another year to prove myself and show how dominate a player I am on the field. Also, not to mention, it gave me the chance to play the game of football at the collegiate level one last time.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and my teammates would say I’m a leader; and, that there’s no one more committed and willing than I am to make personal sacrifices for the team. My teammates will describe me as a player that they can trust and one that they would rather play next to because of my intelligence, aggressive nature, and the wisdom I bring on and off the field.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I look for my opponents tendencies. Every player has a twitch or “tell” which forecasts what they’re getting ready to do/ what move their going to make. I review every play and compare them to find similarities. For example, I may watch 25 outside zone plays to learn my opponents pre-snap routine, which lets me know that this is the play they’re preparing to run. When watching film on myself I look for any bad habits, I look for something which may harm my gameplay and/or make me a step slower than my opponent.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

My work ethic and willingness to sacrifice for the team. I always go above and beyond to train and study to make sure I stay ahead of the others. I make it a point to become 1% better everyday, no matter what that is. I’m the player who puts the needs of the team ahead of my own and I will do whatever it takes to be out there on that field.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am investing in my physical and mental preparedness. I’m currently following a strict meal plan provided by a nutritionist. I am training 2-3 times a day, 6 days a week. I will be ready.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I bring my knowledge and understanding of the game. On and off the field I will bring unquestionable character, integrity, honor, unyielding faith, commitment, passion and GRIT. On the field, the most important thing a player can do is his 1/11th. He has to be accountable for his responsibilities and that’s the type of player I am. I am the player my teammates trust next to them. I do my job; and in doing so, I make my teammates jobs a little easier and a lot more productive. Off the field, I’m the one my teammates trust to build a bond with. They know, just like my family and community knows, that my faith walk, humbleness, and humility take precedence. I’m going to do whatever it takes (be it extra time on the field or in the film room) and, I’m committed to seeing that my teammates will do the same with me. Though on and off the field my character is a strength, the love I have to uplift my peers and those younger than me, and the desire to give back to the community is a golden trait that I possess.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

I’m your guy! I’m the hybrid guy you’ve been looking for/ need on your roster. I’m the player who can drop into coverage on 1st down, Stop the Run on 2nd down, and rush the QB on 3rd down. I am that relentless player that will run from sideline to sideline, play after play. Pick me up and you are picking up the guy who doesn’t care about anything but winning and making his teammates better.
