STEELHAWKS 1ST & GOAL ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE PROGRAM CONTINUES FOR 2017

ESSA Bank & Trust Returns as Partner on Academic Initiative

Allentown, PA:  The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks professional arena football team, in conjunction with long time partner ESSA Bank & Trust, will once again be bringing the Steelhawks€™ 1st & Goal Academic Excellence Program to area schools. For the fourth straight year, this initiative has been in place to help support educators by promoting academic excellence in the classrooms of the Lehigh Valley.

The objective of this program is to partner with our local community to promote academic and behavioral excellence in the classroom and beyond. Administrators or individual teachers can set goals for their students to achieve academically and/or behaviorally. As an incentive and reward for meeting these goals, the Steelhawks will provide free vouchers to attend one of our six home games during our 2017 season.  In addition to providing vouchers, the Steelhawks players, dancers and staff will also be making appearances in our local schools for events such as pep rallies, anti-bullying efforts, classroom read alouds, and assemblies.  Fundraising opportunities will also be made available through the Steelhawks with monies collected going directly to the schools.

€œThe Steelhawks are thrilled to be able to give back to the community that has allowed us to thrive here in the Lehigh Valley,€ stated Steelhawks 1st and Goal Program Director Wendy Clark.  €œWe are looking forward to celebrating the academic and behavioral achievements of our local youth at our home games this season.€

More than 25 local middle and elementary schools have adopted this program in the prior years. There are already ten schools signed up to participate this school year for the upcoming season. Join the movement by contacting the Steelhawks€™ office or directly emailing Wendy Clark at wclark@lvsteelhawks.com.

Steelhawks€™ 2017 season tickets are also now on sale, with packages starting as low as $48. All Steelhawks€™ games are played on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center in Allentown.
