Shaun McGee: 2020 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Shaun McGee
School: Tuskegee/Georgia
Position: OLB
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 230

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

Overall just being the best leader i could be, by my actions and how I worked. A small goal that I had for myself was to finish the season with no loafs and I accomplished that goal. Also another goal i had was to increase my sack total from my junior year to my senior year and I got that done too.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

They love that I’m a high energy guy, I’m always flying around. Also They love that I’m a team player, willing to do and play whatever I needed to in order to help my team. I played out of position in college, and anybody that watches my film from college and looks at my skill set will tell you the samething, and I also played special teams, I just did what I had to do for my team.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I focus on the little things that my opponent is doing that can tip off plays they are running or maybe a certain technique they may use on that play. Being an outside linebacker and having to pass rush a lot, I like to focus on the Offensive lineman’s feet and hands to pick pass rush moves, as well as the snap count to give me a better get off on the ball and allow me to be more effective.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I refuse to be outworked, things that I have been through in my life has instilled a work ethic in me I feel is unmatched. Also I feel like my willingness to do and play whatever I have to in order to make a team better. Also my ability face adversity, and not give up no matter what the circumstance is I will always find a way.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

Just continue to get better everyday. Adding something to this foundation everyday to make me a better athlete. Not only that, but continue to network and make the connections to help make myself marketable and be able to contribute to any organization on the field as well as off the field.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My ability to affect any room in a positive way, from the locker room, to the weight room, to the film room, to that business meeting. Just always being that positive light and motivation to the people around me.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?

I’m a firm believer that God makes no mistakes. I believe that the things that i have been through in life happened for a reason and makes me the player that I am today. I’ve always had to fight and I’ve always come out on top. Any organization that gets me is going to get a fighter, for the organization as well as the people around it, the fans. Someone who’s gonna come to work everyday and get it done by any means necessary. And it’s an honor to even have the opportunity to have a chance to play pro ball.
