Nick Stalworth: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Nick Stalworth
School: Siena Heights University
Position: ILB
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 226
What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I set out a goal this year to become a better all around leader. I believe that I met this goal by passing on my knowledge and experience down to the younger guys coming through the program.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
I believe that I took full advantage of the extra year of eligibility. To increase my chances of going pro, I primarily focused on my explosiveness and my power in the weight room to make me a faster all around ball player.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say I’m the player who is going to make their presence felt on every down. They would probably say I’m physical, quick, a good communicator, and a guy who can track down someone from sideline to sideline.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When watching film I look for tendencies. For example, I primarily look at how the offensive lineman lean or look at their stance and this normally gives away if it is a run or a pass. I also like to study the coordinators to pick up on any tendencies and see what plays they like to run in between the 20’s. I also look at what red zone plays a coordinator likes to rely heavy on.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I believe what separates me from other pro prospects at my position is my versatility. My ability to play the run just as effective as the pass is what sets me apart. Another thing that separates me is my ability to be able to track down a ball carrier from sideline to sideline.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Right now I am getting ready for my pro day and am working with former SB Champ and CFL All-Star Greg Jones as well as training at Impact Sports Performance out in Novi, MI with Jim Kielbaso to get more quick, fast, strong, and explosive.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I believe that both on and off the field a strength that I will bring to a team is my IQ. I believe that this game is won mentally and knowing my opponent and what they like to do is something that I believe teams will love. Off the field I believe that I’m a pretty smart guy and I pick up on a lot of things quickly.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch would be that if a team is looking for a three down linebacker who can run from sideline to sideline I’m your guy. I can play the pass just as well as I can play the run and I’m a guy who knows what is going on at all times.
