Height: 5’9″

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Marquez: Tenacious, Quick, Fearless.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Marquez: As of lately, I’ve been training at D1 Sports Training in Raleigh, NC. One of the best training facilities that focuses on skill specific work as well as agility, plyometrics, explosion, and strength! I’ve seen nothing but improvements thus far to compete with the best.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Marquez: I know you said one, but I have two! Taylor Gabriel and Emmanuel Sanders. Those guys aren’t the tallest or biggest receivers on the field, but their presence is always felt. They make a huge impact in the game and me being a smaller receiver, they’ve boosted my confidence even more. The energy they bring to the game, the amount of resilience and heart of a Lion. They have the mentality that no one can stop them and I’ve adopted that mentality from the get-go! Not to mention their route running ability.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Marquez: When watching film, I usually watch for DB’s tendencies along with their strengths and weaknesses. As a receiver, it’s almost critical to pinpoint what a defender will do more or less of on any given route. Not only do I watch DB’s, I also look at some of the best WR and see how they get open so much and what releases they use just to try and add as much to my game as possible. I like to say I’m a student of the game.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Marquez: What separates me from other players at my position is my willingness to be coached, the tenacity I bring to the game, my route running along with my ability to embarrass the defender and my work ethic is second to none!

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Marquez: On the field I bring an outstanding level of competency in all that I do. As well as confidence and just a swagger that is unmatched. Off the field, here I stand a guy that cares greatly about my community and reaching out to the youth on a more positive note. There’s many athletes who bring a lot of scrutiny to themselves and their organization, however I would make every effort to be a team player and positive role model off the field.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Marquez: Every player has a story to be told which makes them standout and my whole entire career I’ve been the under dog that prospered. I’ve played with a chip on my shoulder and the notion that I have to provide for my family. Given this opportunity I’ll bring that same amount of tenacity and determination to be the best and make everyone around me better!
